African Bush Camps Foundation

VISION
The African Bush Camps Foundation is a registered non-profit organization that has been in operation since 2006. The Foundation’s mission is to partner with communities that are located near our camps to improve quality of life and achieve long-term conservation through programs focusing on: Education, Community Empowerment and Conservation.
APPROACH
ABCF identifies needs, skills and resources within communities and forges meaningful partnerships among the stakeholders to empower communities to become self-sustaining and independent while promoting conservation and community spirit.
CAUSES
ABCF has projects running in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana that focus on addressing challenges such as unemployment, food scarcity, poor education and health care infrastructure, low school attendance and dropouts due to financial constraints, wildlife poaching, and preserving natural resources.

PROJECTS WE ARE SUPPORTING

FEMALE SAFARI GUIDES
Ninety per cent of safari guides in the region are male. ABCF aims to develop female safari guides through skills training, mentorship, job shadowing, and rotations at African Bush Camps in Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

KACHIKAU DISABILITY UNIT
This project funds the Kachikau Primary School Disability unit housing around 32 students with disabilities from the villages in Chobe, Botswana. It provides schooling, accommodation, and daily meals for the learners and has wheelchair ramps to allow access.
